Our aim is to make you eat drink to talk to dream as if a time machine had catapulted you into an old pre-war Florentine “shop-tavern”. Our premises are all made with original pieces of recovery. No Ikea, no new furniture, no industrial furniture, no tables or Metro chairs. All really Vintage. The search for these real antiques is spasmodic and engages us all year around for markets, we have a huge warehouse in Florence where we accumulate so many objects that we collect over time that will then go to furnish a restaurant.
Our fruit boxes of a Bergamo farmer become shelves or stools, just like the anchovy cans become chandeliers, the quays of a Chianti school become the tables of the Milan Navigli Prosciutteria, the marble grit tiles of a Villa of Fiesole decorate the back-bank of Siena, the shutters of a convent in Arezzo become table tops in Brescia and Florence, my grandmother’s marble dresser becomes a changing table in the Bologna bathroom.
OLD PHOTOS AND AUTHENTIC HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS
In Milan Brera an autographed and rather controversial letter from Salvatore Ferragamo, in Bologna the price lists with the fruit market prices of 1868, in Florence letters from lovers and military documents of the Submarinists division stationed in Albania during the Second World War, in Siena university books from the 30s and receipts for the purchase of livestock with prices in three different currencies, a Tuscan shield, a lira and the occupation currency, the napoleons. In San Frediano of Florence the paintings of two popes of the 700, the sink of a train, a collection of milk and tools from aluminum ice cream makers, antique mirrors, even a puppet theater and the many debit letters of a fallen nobleman.
