Where to have an aperitif in Perugia

Are you wondering where to eat in Perugia? If you visit Umbria you can’t miss Perugia and once in the city you can’t miss La Prosciutteria. In a short time we managed to carve out a space for ourselves in the crowded panorama of the city’s restaurants by focusing on two elements: cordial friendliness in the service and quality/quantity/price ratio.

Obviously a big hand was also given by the restoration of the place which, although small, has the ancient charm of things well done of the past. You enter through a large door that opens onto the square and you are immediately invaded by the scent of hams and cured meats hanging from the ceiling; beyond the seats in front of the counter you go down to a second level of what was once the cellar of the building, with its brick vault and stone walls. The place has a few stools placed in front of the entrance to “watch who goes by” and then a large outdoor area just around the corner, that is, in that Corso Mazzini that connects the city stroll of Corso Vannucci with our Piazza Matteotti.

In total, we can accommodate about 35 people inside and the same number outside. The area dedicated to the Perugian aperitif is all around us, as are the major monuments of the city. We can also define ourselves without modesty as one of the most popular places for graduation parties, in a university city like ours our informal but well-kept, tasty but simple environment is particularly appreciated.

What can you find at La Prosciutteria di Firenze in Perugia?
Obviously the best of Umbrian, Tuscan and Italian delicatessen, with kilometre-long platters, stuffed schiacciate and then carpaccio, salads, fondues, some hot dishes, the famous wood-fired Porchetta di Bevagna, Prosciutto di Norcia and so on and so forth. Eating in Perugia is a pleasure! Don’t forget the wide range of wines, even by the glass, that ranges from Umbria to Tuscany to the rest of Italy with a particular eye on local productions, first and foremost the Sagrantino di Montefalco! We are obviously open every day even for lunch, even just for a quick sandwich, a glass of wine or simply to have a chat.

Finally, we remind you that here, as in all our places, you can do your shopping and take home wines, preserves and all the products tasted like an old but modern “grocery store”.
